report not running

hi all

i am working on SQL Reporting 2005.

after clicking on report name in report manager or report server the report is not generated .

The internet explorer shows that "opening page ......." in task bar but actually report is not generated .

However same report runs in preview of SQL server BI development studio.

also the same report runs when deployed in some other machine.

plz help me.

Do you get an error of some sort in IE? Check the log file and event log. Anything identifies the error? Start with your report server.|||

i don't get any kind of error message.

In the task bar IE shows message "opening page..." and also shows the progress bar for loading page but i can only see the page without anythinh on it. Also the progress bar doesn't disappear. i think its sort of infinite loop where IE is trying several times to load that page.

plz help me.

Report Model Security Integration with SSAS 2005

Hi,

I have a question here for report model generated on top of SSAS 2005. If security has been defined in SSAS 2005 cube where RoleA only have access to certain dimension, is this security setting integrated with the report model and propogate down to the report builder when used where RoleA users have no access to dimension allowed?

Thanks,

J Lim

Unfortunately you're going to have to duplicate these security settings in the report model layer, too. You'll need to connect to Reporting Services inside Management Studio and edit the model item security on the report model in question from there. Sorry nobody answered your question months ago.sql

This error comes up after clicking on the new report model. The report model and datasource deployed to the sharepoint server with no issues.

Hi,

Did you ever find a solution to the error:
"The model specified must be a generated model (rsModelNotGenerated)."

I'm getting it after I have deployed a Report Model to Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007, and when trying to create a Report Builder model in Sharepoint.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Report Model against Cube data source

We have successfully generated a Report Model against a Cube data source. My question is I can't seem to figure out how to modify the model. The wizard organized and named entities in an odd way - and even finding the measures is in some obscure place. I know how to create models in BIDS, but it doesn't seem to give me that same flexibility against a cube source.
unfortunately you can't edit it using VS.
maybe you can manually edit the XML file behind the model... but its a huge job...

Report is not showing

hai friends
i deployed my report and in preview using vs.net i can see the report.
but once i deployed
the report is being generated screen is comming but it is not showing
report.i waited and waited still that report is being generated screen only
i am using evaluation copy is this the limitation of trial ver.we cannot see
the deployed report.
also how can i know how many days left in my evaluation version.I too have the same problem.
Though it works fine with an SQL db. The problem only occurs when using an
Oracle DB. I am using the 8i client. It works fine on my dev machine in
Visual Studio. It hangs when the report is run from a Report Services.
Its quite possible that both issues are related ?

the graphical query designer then OLEDB is used. If you use the generic
designer then a dotnet managed provider is used. I thought the managed
provider requires 9i or greater but I am not sure of that. When deployed it
uses the managed provider. I am guessing that this is where you problem is
coming from. To test the theory out, switch to generic query mode (the
button is to the right of the ...) and try executing from there.

'Report Is Being Generated' Message and Graphic not Displaying

Hello,
I am using ReportViewer in a Web Page with a Server Report and
Asyncrendering is turned on. The report displays correctly; however, the
'Report Is Being Generated' message and graphic do not display when the
report is loading.
It works fine in Report Manager. It is a big problem because the user can
not tell when a report is loading and they keep pressing the 'View Report'
button.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.Hello,
Have you tried this on other develop machine to develop a new report for
test?
Have you use the impersonate in your ASP.NET web application?
If so, what's the permission you have on the report server?
Also, please add your report server to the trust site in the IE and try to
set the security level to low to have a try.

'Report is being generated' Image

Hi,
I'm just wondering about the possibility of changing the 'Report being generated' image. I have my reports embedded in an asp.net application and I'd like to match this image to logo of the application.
ThanksThis image is compiled into one of the RS assemblies as a resource, and it
is accessed with the following line of HTML in the actual page it shows up
in:
<img alt="Report is being generated"
src="?rs:Command=Get&rc:GetImage=8.00.743.00spinning_wheel.gif" />
You're not going to be able to change it, but you can pull the report from
the RS Web Service and then you have a complete customization of how the
report is rendered. The caveat, of course, is that you're going to have to
recreate all of the functionality that URL access affords you (namely
parameter handling).

I have a report with 12 parameters. They all have a default setting. When

Report hangs on "Report is being generated" screen

I am having issues trying to use a deployed report on our live server.
The report works fine in the development environment - yet when posted to
the live server it seems to work fine but hangs on the "Report is being
generated" screen.
We are still in an evaluation stage of Reporting Services and such are using
the trial version, this is installed on Windows 2003 Server. The report was
developed using Visual Studio 2003 and will be instantiated by an ASP.Net
application. The report is being fired using a
Response.redirect("/ReportServer?%2fReport+Project1%2fReportName&session=" +
Session.SessionID.ToString() + "&rs%3aCommand=Render");
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
StevenA few questions for you.
- Are you going against the same database when you deploy or a different
one. I.e. could it be a difference is the size of the data you are reporting
against.
- Does this happen when you run the report from Report Manager? If so then
we can disregard the fact it is coming from your app. If it works fine from
the report manager then that tells us a lot too.
- Is your asp.net application on the same server and is it in the same
domain?

It is against the same database and the subset of data retrieved is very
small - perhaps 50 rows.

I had a similar symptom when I was testing a deployment. I was using
different login info and forgot to provide access to the database. The
Reporting Services page would come up and I could select a report to run,
but the report would just hang at the generating report stage. Dumb, I know!

I've checked the database access and the account specified in the
credentials of the shared data component of the report has full access.

Report Generation Image

Is there any way to change the image "Report is being generated" to something else or at least change the location of it. I have a report that is very long and our users have to scroll down to see that. They think the report is frozen when in all reality it is still generating. It is postioning in the center of the page and I want it to position at the top. This behavior could happen on very old CTP releases. Are you seeing this on SQL Server 2005 RTM?

The height of the sharepoint site is large in order to view the report without having a scroll bar for the report and one for sharepoint. So if you make the height of the sharepoint size large then the scroll bar for the report viewer disappears. However, this makes the "Report is being generated" message go out of sight.|||

I have the same problem using VS2005 Pro [8.0.50727.42 (RTM.050727-4200)] and SQL Server 2005 Std [9.0.1399]. My report viewer control is set to 1000px height to avoid a scroll bar from the viewer control and a 2nd scrollbar from IE
