Report pagination for charts

Hi,

We have developed few reports displaying data using chart layout. In the Data tab, we have specified MDX query that will return top 10 records.

But now, instead of restricting to just top 10 records, we would like to display all records and go in for pagination.

Is there some setting in the chart properties, where in I can display the first n records in first page, and the next n records( if available) in the next page and so on?

Can I specify the value of n somewhere in the propeties?

I read through many posts regarding pagination but those couldn't help me much.

Please help me in solving this problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

One approach is the following:

Step 1: Add a table to the report
Step 2: Group by a number of rows
Right-click on the table and select Properties. Add a table group (with a group header, but no group footer)
Enter this for the group expression: =Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/10)
This will cause the table to group on every ten rows. So you'll get a separate table group for every ten rows.
Step 3: Add a chart in the table group header
Design your chart.

Note: this approach is similar to the table inline charts approach discussed in the following whitepaper: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa964128.aspx

I got the idea from the solution provided by you and did the following:

Step 1: Add a list to the report

Step 2: Added group expression for the list to group the data

Grouping =Ceiling(RowNumber(Nothing)/10)

Set the following properties for list:

KeepTogether: False

PageBreakAtEnd: True

Step 3: Added chart to the list

Set the property, PageBreakAtEnd: True for the chart.

The above steps solved my problem of report pagination for charts.

Report Manager not displaying correctly

I get the "SQL Server Reporting Services - Home" header and the links on the top right, but no tabs along the yellow or blue lines. I also have created and deployed a report but it does not show up in Report Manager.

What step have I missed?

Report Manager not displaying correctly

I have managed to get reporting services running on Vista, but when I open report manager, I don't see the "Contents" or "Properties" tabs. I get the "SQL Server Reporting Services - Home" header and the links on the top right, but no tabs along the yellow or blue lines. I also have created and deployed a report but it does not show up in Report Manager.

What step have I missed?

What version of Vista are you running?|||

On Vista, IE does not run as administrator by default. Try running IE as administrator or from a none-Vista machine and see if you have the same problems.

Thanks for answering the post. Getting Reporting Services installed on Vista has been more than a little frustrating. To answer both reponses:

- I'm running Vista Ultimate.

- Tried running IE as Admin and that didn't help.

'Report Is Being Generated' Message and Graphic not Displaying

Hello,
I am using ReportViewer in a Web Page with a Server Report and
Asyncrendering is turned on. The report displays correctly; however, the
'Report Is Being Generated' message and graphic do not display when the
report is loading.
It works fine in Report Manager. It is a big problem because the user can
not tell when a report is loading and they keep pressing the 'View Report'
button.
Any suggestions?

test?
Have you use the impersonate in your ASP.NET web application?
If so, what's the permission you have on the report server?
Also, please add your report server to the trust site in the IE and try to
set the security level to low to have a try.

Did you use any User Control to hold the ReportViewer? If you put your
ReportViewer to a single aspx page, does this issue appeared?

solution since I could not reproduce this issue on my side.

Report Header is not displaying

Hi Everybody,

I have a strange problem. I'm using CR 9. My report works fine. The problem is it if there is no records found, then it is not displaying anything including Report Header, Report Footer.

Report Header section contains just a heading, sys date and parameter values.

Have any idea? pls help me?

Madhivanan|||No, Actually I have checked the "Suppress Printing if No Records" in Report Options dialog. (accidentally, and I simply forgot)

After checking all the possibilities, I noticed that one. So I removed it. It's working now.
