Report parameters

I'm using a query to populate a drop down list for a report parameter. E.g. a
number of stores. I'm using this to get sales figures per store.
Now I need a way to show the sales figures for all stores. A user should for
example be able to skip the stores selection list to select them all...
I haven't figured out yet how to skip this, or some other solution to get
every store. When I do not select a store, RS complains there's no store
selected. Even when I select "allow null value" in the parameter options...
Can someone help me?Hi Andreas,

Report Parameter Toolbar

Good day everyone...

I created a simple report in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. Its about getting the sales from specific date and store. My parameters are date and storename, the report works fine as I view it in the reportserver. But, when we incorporate the report in a custom webpage using a reportviewer, the parameter toolbar occupies half the space, now that's my problem. Is there anyway I can create a custom Toolbar in Visual Studio so I can just set the parameter property to hidden so the default parameter toolbar wont show?

Thanks in advance guys... c",)

Yes. There's nothing extra (like controls) supplied to allow this. Just create the parameters using standard controls (dropdowns, dat pickers, whatever you like) and then in code pass those parameters to the report viewer control.sql

Report Output

Normally, the report always display like the follow:
Department Employee No. Average Salary
---
HR 15 11250
IT 25 15510
Sales 5 10000
But I want to display the record as the follow: (the record is shown
horizontally, instead of vertical)
Department HR IT Sales
Employee No. 15 25 5
Average Salary 11250 15510 10000
How can I do that ?May Liu,
Use a matrix instead of a table, your scenario is exactly what they are for.
If your query finds a new department it will add another column automatically.

report manager parameters

Greetings...
I have a report that is going to be distributed daily. I need the subject of
the email to be something like, 'Sales Report for <date>' where date is the
date it was ran for. I tried using the report parameter but it only gave me
the parameter name, not the value. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
Thanks,

I'm typing this into the subscriptions page in report manager, this is what
it looks like. I tried using the ampersand and the plus sign, both just
showed up exactly as I typed them.

meant as the title of the report. I haven't tried to modify the email
subject. Sorry. You could have the subject of the email static and have the
title of the report (a textbox at the top of the report) have the
expression.

Report help

Is it possible in reporting services to do the following:
I have a tabular report with months going across, and sales person going
down, the data shows the total sales value for each salesperson for each
month.. this I can do and is easy :-)
The tricky part that I have not worked out is this:
For an individual sales person: if a months sales value is less than the
previous month then I need the cell background to be red, if the value is
higher than the previous month then I need the cell background to be green.
Thanks,
Ricci.I am assuming you are using a matrix.
This is possible under fairly restrictive conditions:
* The query must return data in the following form:
Salesperson Month MonthlySales
Joe Jan 100
Joe Feb 101
Joe Mar 99
Mary Jan 200
Mary Feb 199
Mary Mar 201
* All aggregations must be done in the query and not in the Matrix
* Data must be sorted by salesperson and month in the query
Once these conditions are meet you can add the following expression to
background color property for the matrix cell that contains the monthly
sales:
=iif(Fields!Salesperson.Value = Previous(Fields!Salesperson.Value),
iif(Fields!MonthlySales.Value < Previous(Fields!MonthlySales.Value),
"Red", "Green"), "White")
Improvements to the Previous() method are currently under consideration for
inclusion in a future release.

Report Heading with dates

I'm trying to create a heading for my report.

I want

sales figures between 09/11/2006 to 09/04/2007.

The date comes from parameters

What I have done is created 4 text boxes

textbox 1 = sales figures between

textbox 2 = =datepart("D", Parameters!param_datef.Value) & "/" & datepart("M", Parameters!param_datef.Value) & "/" & datepart("YYYY", Parameters!param_datef.Value)

textbox 3 = To

textbox 4 = =datepart("D", Parameters!param_datet.Value) & "/" & datepart("M", Parameters!param_datet.Value) & "/" & datepart("YYYY", Parameters!param_datet.Value)

Ok the problem is the text boxes when previewed are all over the place.

In crystal reports you can add a formula into a text box after text

Is this sort of thing possible in Reporting services

Thanks for all your help

You should stick this all in one textbox, not four:

= "Sales Figures between " & datepart("D", Parameters!param_datef.Value) & "/" & datepart("M", Parameters!param_datef.Value) & "/" & datepart("YYYY", Parameters!param_datef.Value) & " to" & =datepart("D", Parameters!param_datet.Value) & "/" & datepart("M", Parameters!param_datet.Value) & "/" & datepart("YYYY", Parameters!param_datet.Value)

It also is probably not necessary for you to "build up" the date - Try the Format() function: Format(Parameters!Param.Value, "FormatMaskGoesHere")

|||

Thanks Russell for you help

For the date how would you use format to convert the date format from yyyy-mm-dd to dd/mm/yyyy

Thanks

|||Format(date, "dd/MM/yyyy")
